Name That Tree

When I bought my property, there were only 2 trees on it. The small tree in the photos below and a pecan tree. (The forest behind the tree in the photos is on my neighbor’s lot.) Can anyone tell me what kind of tree this is?

As you can see, the tree is covered with tiny white blossoms right now. The leaves are small ovals. It’s overall shape is similar to a crape myrtle, but this certainly isn’t a crape myrtle. It seems to thrive on the southern edge of that tree-line. Click on a photo to enlarge.

My Azalea

I’ve planted one little azalea bush on my property. My mother won it at an Arbor Day celebration and gave it to me. Thanks Mom! Look at how it’s blooming — I guess it likes its new home.

Colors of Spring — Yellow

Spring is beautiful in Onancock … colorful plants are blooming everywhere. Bright yellow forsythia are putting on a show right now. I’ll have at least one forsythia in my new yard. It will add early spring color and fit right in with the Japanese garden theme I have planned.
